Reduce breakage on the line

To reduce breakage on the line, SCHOTT Pharma offers two solutions. The first is identifying and understanding the “pressure peaks” of the fill-and-finish line, using SmartSkin Quantifeel™ to optimize fill-and-finish line parameters. The second is analytical strength tests of transported containers to understand the root causes of damage generated by the fill-and-finish line with the help of SCHOTT Pharma Services.

  1. Glass ampoules start as short lengths of glass tubing, which are then shaped by heating with gas torches.
  2. The heated glass is manipulated using gravity to create the desired shape, including a narrow neck.
  3. Depending on the ampoule form and the type of filling line, the ampoules are either hermetically sealed by melting the thin top with an open flame or left open.
  4. Finally, the ampoules are ready dor the filling process.

Choosing the best glass ampoules for your filling line means understanding the different shapes of ampoules and their compatibility with your manufacturing process. Form B ampoules, with improved vapor and funnel dimensions, are versatile and precise, suitable for different types of machines. Form C ampoules, one of the oldest types, have a wider opening and are preferred  for older fill-and-finish machines. Form D ampoules, also know as closed ampoules, are designed for machines without a washing, drying, and depyrogenation module.
