During manufacture, the glass ampoule is printed with ink containing light-emitting particles to create identification rings, OPC dots, or text. Only visible by using a special reader, these marks ensure drug authenticity.

They come in highly standardized secondary packaging, with open forms (B or C) requiring washing and depyrogenation before filling, while closed form D can be directly filled after opening.
